If you run a WHOIS on the absolutely awesome Gary Vaynerchuk‘s domain name, GaryVaynerchuk.com, using DomainTools you will notice it’s FOR SALE!

Fortunately, it’s definitely not true – unless Gary isn’t tell us something? It’s actually something I find very interesting – especially since I am active as a domainer with a very large domain name portfolio.

This example illustrates that a previous owner or cyber-squatter once owned Gary’s domain before he ever became a “household name”. Gary likely had to use legal channels or actually pay to get this domain – and now the only thing remaining is the original auction listing at Sedo where the previous owner posted the domain for sale.

So please, if you have any plans or aspirations to get famous by Crushing It – then you definitely need to secure your domain names!!!
